rivets twists it in suitable fashion for the skudge label...one gritty house cut backed with an epic flipside.

rivet puts a lot of effort in his sounds and his production. this is not another copycat. first out on the ep >amid the roar< is >metrist<, a sexy march that blends the stiffness 80-ties disco with techno from the future. on the b-side marcel fengler takes his turn on >metrist<. he keeps the string of the original, chops up the bass and creates a dancefloor monster with a big anthem alert stamp on it. amid the roar ends with what might be the strongest track on the ep. this ep will make us dance, of course, as always, with a bit of a kontra-musik twist.

bristols local hero kowton contributes to teals fourth release - the slowly grooving house gem that is dirty little bomb slowly evolves through cold, industrial soundscapes yielding one of the more introvert yet danceable tracks seen on teal so far. the mysterious player rivet reworks kowtons gem on the flipside - cranking up the tempo, layering lush synth hits and shifty groove - power moves!

this paragraph from solaris, the novel written in 1961 by stanislav lem, is the starting point for the concept this 30drop album has been built upon. science fiction masters like lem are one of the greatest influences for the artist, who devised this album after the mental challenges that humans should overcome in a future: encounter with beings from other civilizations: capable of interacting with us in a totally unthinkable way so far.

the sheffield powerhouse that is denham audio have had an extremely busy few years crafting superb techno and ‘130 jungle’ rollers. their productions have been turning a lot of heads, landing releases on circular jaw, tessier-ashpool, grndwrk, tumble audio, heretic and addison groove’s new groove imprint in the short space of time since they debuted songs online in mid-2015. they show no sign of their workrate slowing this year with the boys presenting their “leighton buzzin’” ep on artifice this month.

hot on the heels of kess kill s launch featuring cute heels, rivet proudly presents kess02 by xaõ seffcheque. while kess01 was in no way a compromise, it was still a very intentional symbiosis between the distilled essence of kess kill and contemporary electronic music. on kess02 we go straight to the core of the kess kill sound and aesthetic with three breathtaking songs by xaõ seffcheque. a contemporary of liaisons dangereuses and d.a.f., düsseldorf based artist xaõ produced some extremely singular music in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which makes for a very proud first reissue for kess kill. this is music so unparalleled that making comparisons is completely redundant. think jacked up post-punk with manic rhythmic tendencies and you’re halfway there. qu est-ce qu il fait chaud!

deadly poison is the fourth installment of st petersburg-based producer sanys on discerning downfall theory series. retaining to the a/b format and treading a heady, analogue-hued line with releases thus far on predecessors control freak / event horizon, forward thinking logic and daily situation which supported a stunning rework from chicago-based, detroit-born producer alex israel, deadly poison continues to march on in gritty, idiosyncratic fashion only this time fractioning off and multiplying into four distinct, yet symbiotic floor workouts. on the a-side hired guns kicks off with no-holds barred, full-on weighty bass weaponry before grab them back in reins things in, just a little: a dystopic soundtrack full of clanging machines rung through with the filmy dread of a waning humanity. on the b-side concern continues in plain rude as distorted vocals are twisted into evil barks and plied with itchy hats to warning chimes and a bounding bassline in this weird and wonky builder. down and dirty then concludes—as the title suggests—in deep, raw analogue terrain. having already caught the attention of people like blawan, rivet and brendon moeller, deadly poison consolidates sanys skills as a one to watch maker of provocative, sensitive and fiercely independent dance music.

the second of two eps from talented californian newcomer, tyler friedman, has now arrived. a night in the woods ep starts of as a murky rhythmic experiment. when released of its bound, it transforms into a hailstorm of sound that builds in melodic intensity towards a final climax. this is scenic and brave electronic dancemusic that over and over again will capture the focused listener. on the b-side rivet for sure push tyler towards berghain. but now the tool is somewhat different. rivet transforms the cinematic original into a very dirty and dry party stomper.
